Most people see the word compassion as another word in the dictionary when actually it’s a word with so much meaning and a form of way of expressing your emotions. Compassion is having kindness and feeling others pain when suffering. Compassion brings people together and makes the world a better place. But, most importantly it has allowed us to connect with others and show our emotions to others. It’s an important need to us humans because it keeps us emotionally connected. The article “Living The Compassionate Life” by Dalai Lama explains how humans can show happiness, love, and be compassionate and also be miserable and harmful to others. Compassion is what provides love and without love, we would be very isolated from the world and people.

When being compassionate for someone we tend to go an extra mile when others are suffering from pain. What I mean is that we want to make this specific person feel special and loved. However, I’ve encountered some experiences in where I have lost a dog that I loved. This dog grew up with me and was brought to me at the age of 6 years old. When my dog passed away, I was devastated. People aren’t the only type of species who are able to show compassion, animals are also willing to show the love they have for there owners in a much different way. Having compassion forms a type if link in which others are able to understand someone. For examples, animals have their own different link just like people do. As I said, we will go beyond on our own because we want to connect with the person on a much more different level. In the article, “The Only Way to Keep Your Resolutions” by psychologist David DeSteno supports the way people build relationships with others in order to accomplish a goal people have in mind. Desteno’s research shows how people make other feel grateful, “they’ll spend more time helping anyone who asks for assistance.” It shows that people care much more of making others feel happy and loved because they ask for a certain help. In a way, it helps improve our pride and gratitude because we will put everything aside in our own lives to make other person’s life or day happy. The article is not about keeping a diet for the new years resolutions. Desteno’s message is more of how we can become better people to others.
