Personal Narrative: What Makes Me

Improved Essays
What makes me “Me”, I have asked myself this question a thousand times over the last week before it finally hit me. And what makes me who I am my upbringing and my family also where I was raised, the ranch. There are so many ways that my family and the ranch has made me the person I am. From having family supper all gathered at one table, something that is being seen less and less in these days. To working cows, my family and the ranch has had the most impact on making me the kind of man that I am proud to be. And now I would like to tell you all why the Ranch makes me who I am. Living on a ranch can be summed up in a few words work, respect, and resilience. “Work” on a ranch work is never done. It does not have a time limit and there are not …show more content…
Living and being raised on a ranch really teaches how to be resilient because no matter how hard you work at something things will hardly ever go your way. But that’s when have to come back with more will and be better at whatever you’re doing. For example when my father passed away I was devastated. It took me to the bottom I wanted to blame everyone for the hurt I was feeling and for several weeks I did, until I realized that’s not what he would have wanted nor was that who I was. And at 12 years old I decided to live my life with the light of him in my heart and steer others to god the same way he did me and so many others. And though it was hard I was able to overcome my father’s death and live on knowing one day we will meet again. In conclusion I feel more knowledgeable about myself and I hope you all were able to relate to what I had to say in some way and what makes me who I am. The ranch and my family are the ones who instilled and shaped the values that make me the strong, respectful and resilient farm boy that I am. Thank you and god

When asked to define myself in one paper, I find it hard to show the details that I want to in the right light. When asked about my future after high school, I also have a hard time describing everything I want to get done because there are far too many things to name. The quote “ _____” (i want to be everyone and do everything and there isn’t enough life to do it all in) describes me to a tee, and I believe this college is the place I could do this in. Being a shy person for most of my life, many things were difficult for me. Specifically, last summer I had the opportunity for a summer job.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…

The reason I stand where I am today can only be thanks to the many exemplary role models and mentors that I had throughout my high school experience. Each one of these amazing people helped me shape my future in inexplicable ways, if it had not been for their constant eye-opening and thoughtful remarks I would have never left Houston to study in Greencastle, Indiana. Now that I am here, I can't help but look back and say a million thanks to the people who encouraged me and inspired me to become the best that I could be, not only through words but by showing me I could do what I set my mind to. This is the reason I have promised myself that I will be that role model and inspiration for the kids behind me. I feel that being an Advisor for Young…

What separates me from my peers is the purpose I have with everything I do in life. I’m aspiring to be something larger than what everyone else would be content with. Ever since I was 5 years old, I would listen to my grandfather recite Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches that he would present to thousands of people. As I became older, I took it upon myself to research all the things he did for other people rather than himself. He lived with such selfless values, in which, he wanted to not only cause change for African Americans but for the fairness and entitlement every American had.…
