Getting involved in your campus and community is an important part of your college years. When students get more involved, they keep themselves busier and meet more people through these organizations. The University at Albany, SUNY, has over 100 different clubs and organization making it easier to find one that will be in students’ interest. All the different clubs and organization have an impact on the campus and others will also impact community life. When it comes to the freshmen Living-Learning Communities these will impact both, the quality of campus and community life. These Living-Learning Communities are designed to put together freshmen with similar interests and have them take one or two classes together while also living on the same floor. My freshman year, I was a member of the World of Business Living-Learning Community. In the beginning of the year, we participated in a community service that helped clean a local farm. We were there for half the day helping the farmers pick onions off the ground and help clean around their farm. During these couples of hours, I learned how much a group of 60 students can do to help a local farm with a job …show more content…
I appreciated everything I received from my freshmen year and decided I wanted to give back and help the incoming freshmen this year. As a World Ambassador, I am required to help the new members of the World of Business have a smooth transition into college. This includes helping them be aware of the activities on around campus, telling them about the organizations on campus, and even helping them prepare resumes for on campus jobs and internship fairs. In the fall, we participated in Making Strides Against Cancer walk in Albany and helped a local church clean their backyard.
