Some may say that Riley has physical free will because she can walk by herself but in fact, the emotions, Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness, control her emotions towards the action. If an action brings Sadness, Fear, Anger, or Disgust usually you don’t partake in it. With all these factors going into just doing something little what is it to say that she can control what she does. Human nature is defined as “certain social, cultural, and intellectual traits and forms of behavior possessed exclusively by humans” (Lecture 8/8). The emotions are located in her mind and control her view on the world. Her intellectual view is controlled by the emotions, as seen in the clip when Fear was talking to Joy about standing up and speaking to the class. To any intellectual thinker that would seem like an everyday thing, but to Riley or should I say Riley’s emotions that seem like a horrible thing. Having her intellectual view controlled by the emotions means her human behavior is not hers at all.
