Living Hell In The Trenches Creative Writing

Decent Essays
It’s been a Living hell in the trenches… I've seen things that i still can't process to this day. I started to ask myself after our first month of training, why am I here? I don’t know if i’ll be able to last, There is mortar fire being laid on us every single day like rain in an overcast, No matter what time it is. I'm scared that i'll end up like one of the soldiers last week. He froze up mid battle and was chowed down by a heavy machine gun not to far from the trench. He was torn to bits. Im sending you this letter to assure you that i'm still alive and breathing this toxic air. I have made it this far but I don't think i can go any further. My feet have began to swole and blister, It’s been a pain to move from one position to another.

Our soldiers had their heads held high and they were all so excited for the battle, but the first experience of trench warfare had brought horror upon all of us. The first sight of the trenches showed that they were in the worst conditions and didn’t give privacy. The officers had told us that these “ditches” were going to remain as our homes for the rest of the war. These “worse” conditions were proved as we remained in the trenches for numerous days. It was the home where we were going to live, eat, hopefully stay safe and the place where you would find a corner to do your business.…

My Dearest Nancy, I am writing to you from the trenches in my “dug-out”. It is cold and wet. Winter has not been kind to us out on the Western Front. Many of our chaps have gotten what they call “trench foot”. A nasty disease where your feet turn blue and swell up – even go numb.…

Corporal James of the 2nd Infantry Brigade ducked his head as a shell exploded, raining dirt and shrapnel upon his helmet. Leaning his rifle against the edge of the trench, he fired into no man’s land. Bullets whistled over his head; he ducked below the trench, loading a new cartridge with shaking hands, his mind numbed…

Inside America's Most Dangerous Year Round Job It was just before 9:00 on a rainy Autumn morning as I drove up the muddy gravel drive of Baker Logging on the outskirts of Manchester, Tennessee. The outside of the green metal building appeared fairly new, as I walked in, I noticed the smell of lumber faded to a mixture of grease and pumpkin spice candles. It was almost as chilly inside as it was outside, only dry. The desk was full of paperwork and behind it sat Mr.Baker. He appeared almost as I had pictured him, only cleaner.…

Pony and I lay there in the woods watching the stars. As Pony went home I started to doze off as I watched the stars. As I was sleeping, Ponyboy woke me up with an aggressive tug & push, “come on Johnny, we’re getting out of here” Pony began, “we’re going far away” he continued. I didn’t know what happened or what was wrong but I just followed Pony’s lead.…

Like the quiet before the storm, there was another nigh-complete silence, a well-needed respite after the deafening gunfire they had been subjected to; then, the thunderous sound started up again, the crack of Daniel Stoll shooting indiscriminately like a madman. The gang members, surging through this unreliable curtain of bullets, did not pursue their entourage, instead slamming the door shut with a tremendous clamor. It was a bizarre, ridiculous decision. Had they wanted to escape the wrath of Mr. Stoll and his equalizer, it was entirely possible to simply not walk towards the doorway! Instead they pressed forward into a place with no cover to merely shut a door.…

All she could think of with each passing lick to her brothers head was how that leopard was getting a good taste before sinking its teeth into him. She was nervous, not only did the vampires pose a threat to the twins but these oversized hairballs did as well. How could she be so stupid as to allow this?!
