Imagine being abused profoundly just because of what you believe in. The story I Have Lived for A Thousand Years takes place in 1943.Young girl by the age of 13 named Ellike Friedmann grows up during the holocaust and tells us all about it. Livia Bitton also known as Ellike Friedman is an author and a holocaust survivor who wrote about her experience of the holocaust. I personally would recommend this novel. It gave me a better understanding of the holocaust especially because she was about the same age as me, I could relate to almost all of it. The author gave a lot of graphic descriptions and detailed segments. I understood what she was feeling when they took her possessions away or when she thought the juvenile soldier was cute. I have deeply wanted something or liked someone. Throughout the novel, the author had some very graphic descriptions. For example, “A young girls leg is torn off at the knee, and she sits holding the lower leg. When she lets go, the lower leg falls to the floor and she stares at the knee bone, a bloody stump protruding from the tattering thigh”. The way the author described that scene was very intense. When I had read that part of the novel I squinted with discussed. In the beginning, she dreamt about enrolling in a prep school in Budapest, soon Ellike realized she would never be able to go to her dream school. After that incident, her character changed she became hopeless and thought her dream would never come true. In one of the camps Ellike’s mom was badly injured and Ellike took charge she took care of her and it was like Ellike was the mom and the mom was the
