Live Nation is the most talked-about music and event promoter around the world with about 58,578,000 fans who have helped them conquer the music industry by storm. Live Nation was formed as a spin off in 2005 from Clear Channel Communications, then merged with Ticketmaster to create what is internationally known today as Live Nation Entertainment. This conglomerate has caused a remarkable difference within the music industry. Live Nation is amongst the largest growing music entertainment company in the world who are constantly in search for new and latest sounds. Many music organizations lure their clients with the promise of a record signing but, rather than just signing artists to a record label, Live Nation serves their clients more as promoters who push them to excel to new heights through their journey in the music industry. Their deals with artists like U2 and Madonna, didn’t include funding for the artists’ recordings in the future. Their partnership with Jay-Z however, did include a promised record signing like the deal that was given to U2 and Madonna, but instead, granted him full ownership of his recordings. Not only would Ticketmaster sell concert tickets, but they would also sell merchandise and allow fans to pay for a fan club membership on their website which allows them to participate in presales and present them with membership rewards. With all the amount of income coming in from Ticketmaster’s site, they would keep most of it. Other promoters and vendors knew that when these two companies merged together, they would create a dangerous threat to any other organization in the business leaving them with less or even no money to be earned.
