The song live like you were dying and the poem stopping have both similarities and differences. I think the song was about how a man was near death and he regretted not living his live every day was his last and the poem is about a man who wanted to enjoy the forest for a little while before one day the forest is gone. A difference between the song and the poem is that in stanza one he stops to look at the forest and says “to watch the woods fill up with snow“ but in live like you were dying in the first stanza the doctor tells him”i was in my early forties with a lot of life before me and a moment came that stopped me on a dime” so in the poem he is just enjoying the forest before it is gone but
