The poem “Stopping By the Woods On A Snowy Evening” and the song “Live life Like You Were Dying” both have to do with life. But they are kind of different meaning of life. The poems theme is to always follow your dreams in life and the theme of the song is to do the stuff you want to do because you never know when that opportunity is going to be an option to you. The two techniques I saw for the poem is Symbolism- “The woods and the frozen lake” and the other technique I chose was repetition and the sentence for that was “miles to go before I sleep miles to go before I sleep” because it repeats that. And the techniques I have for thee song was repetition “I went skydiving” because throughout the song it says that over and

Robert Frost Robert Frost, most famous for such works as “The Road Not Taken” and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” inspired the world with his poetry. Because most of the time he was coping with the death of a loved one, a large majority of his poems contemplate the purpose of life and what comes after death, simultaneously reflecting his constant feelings of isolation and grief. Born on March 26, 1874, to William Prescott Frost Jr. and Isabelle Modie Frost, Robert Frost lived in San Francisco for the first eleven years of his life. His mother introduced him to Shakespeare and other similar literature at an early age, instilling in him an early passion for reading and learning.…

I chose the song Baby Got Back because i thought the words mixed up were very funny. Instead of hearing the words “I like big butts and I cannot lie”, people heard “I like big butts in a can of limes.” I t is really funny to think about the words and how similar they sound ("I like big butts in a can of limes” n.p.). Another song I chose was Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love. Listeners heard the lyrics as “Ain't Taco Bell love.”…

Kayden sturgeon Mrs.savolt Language arts The song live like you were dying and the poem stopping have both similarities and differences. I think the song was about how a man was near death and he regretted not living his live every day was his last and the poem is about a man who wanted to enjoy the forest for a little while before one day the forest is gone. A difference between the song and the poem is that in stanza one he stops to look at the forest and says “to watch the woods fill up with snow“ but in live like you were dying in the first stanza the doctor tells him”i was in my early forties with a lot of life before me and a moment came that stopped me on a dime” so in the poem he is just enjoying the forest before it is gone but…

Money can be wonderful when it comes to paying bills, buying food, or just even treating yourself to something nice. Unfortunately, money can also be very dangerous if not sought after with limits. The idea of having a lot of money can be what drives people to work harder, but if it is taken to far it can start to separate families. When someone has a craving to have money they will do lots of things to get it, including ignoring their families. This exact circumstance occurred in the song “American Dream” by Casting Crowns.…

Sexual abuse has never been a pressing issue in the world. It happens so often that is is considered normal and is described in songs. I found the song and music video of one such song, “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna, sickening, and could barely get through reading the vulgar lyrics and the story they were telling. I felt uncomfortable that these repeating problems were being addressed in such a casual way as the song explained. An article about sexual abuse on women says: “We have a problem.…

Throughout life, music has had a major impact on myself. When I hear certain songs it makes me think of certain memories. The song, The Reason, sends me back to my childhood when I was growing up on 2000’s pop. Before all of my football games, I listen to hardcore rap, with the song Man of the Year. My brother has had a tremendous impression on me as I have grown up and the song that resembles Tyler is, Freebird.…

In A Song of Myself, Whitman writes that “there is really no death, And if ever there was it led forward life ,” which conveys his opinion that death shouldn’t be regarded negatively as it is essential to allow new life. Perhaps Whitman’s use of free verse helps to convey his positive and fearless attitude towards death as it allows his poem flow freely without being constricted by regular meter, which could translate to the idea that life is isn’t constricted by eternal death. The use of free verse therefore, gives Whitman’s poem the characteristic of being organic and ongoing which corresponds to the idea that death is similarly part of the ongoing process of life. It is important to question Whitman’s positive views on death considering his numerous encounters with people dying throughout his life such as family members and soldiers her tended as a nurse in the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865. William J. Scheick describes how Whitman’s poetry “ not only reflects his century 's awareness of death and his own negotiation of apprehensions relating to mortality, they also reveal the poet 's deliberate effort to revise his culture 's attitude toward dying .”…
