Lila first decided to pose as a pregnant college student and went to ask for help at the college. UCLA informed her that they did not support pregnant students on campus. They then referred her to an abortion clinic. This really upset Lila, so she then began further investigations. In the Bellingham Planned Parenthood works a 55-year-old nurse practitioner named Kaylene. To protect her family from being persecuted and to protect her profession, Kaylene’s last name is withheld. From her soft grey hair to her sneaker-clad feet she exudes a motherly aura and speaks with a touch of a Midwestern accent. One would never think that in order for her to go into work she has to walk through a group of shouting protestors that call her a “baby killer” or that quite a few family members have deserted her. The challenges she faces are not new, the stigma surrounding Planned Parenthood has been there for a very long time.…

Wade, the Pro-Life movement has also had a large impact on societal views of abortion. The National Abortion Rights Action League and the National Right to Life Committee are just a few of the hundreds of organizations fighting against abortion in the United States. Before the legalization of abortion in 1973, these groups defined themselves as “anti-abortion,” but after their major loss due to the decision, they began to use terminology such as “pro-life.” They started to use this new phrase to gain a moral leverage point, claiming they are saving the lives of the potential children. However, the term “pro-life” is deemed by many to be wildly inaccurate due to their blatant disregard for the life of the pregnant women, only caring about the fetus.…

In this article, Lived Experience Practitioners and the Medical Model: World’s Colliding? by Louise Byrne, Brenda Happell, and Kerry Reid-Searl, the main issue that is being discussed is the discriminations in the workforce that the Lived Experience Practitioners (LEP) have experienced from their non-lived experience colleagues and how that is stopping the LEPs from making an impact on reforming the mental health services. Promoting the recovery focus, which is more consumer-oriented, rather than strictly labeling/diagnosing and then putting the patient on medication that they might not have needed it. The problem is the unbalanced power between the LEPs and other health professionals and a critical need for the development of the LEPs within…

The page has almost no source, and even the one source listed has no sources at all. Even in the video it is obvious the representatives are only trying to do their job.…

Planned Parenthood has been under scrutiny most recently in the past few years for their role in abortions in the United States. Planned Parenthood believes that a woman shouldn’t be judged by the government or anyone for the decisions that they make because a woman’s body is her own and she should have the decision of what she wants to do with it. This was the basis of the Supreme Court case: Roe v. Wade. “Jane Roe” argued the Texas stature that an abortion at any time during the pregnancy was illegal. The court ruled in her favor by saying that a woman has the right to get an abortion until the fetus has reached fetus viability.…

Planned Parenthood is a reproductive health clinic that has been involved in controversies for a long time, especially for their abortion services. Pro-life protestors stand outside of these clinics to express their disagreement with this service. Many others don’t believe that the clinic has a place in society, as they don’t see the benefit of it. On the other side, according to their website, “2.5 million women and men in the United States annually visit Planned Parenthood affiliate health centers for trusted health care services and information” (Planned Parenthood At a Glance). While there’s people that don’t appreciate this clinic, Planned Parenthood does benefit society because they provide services for both men and women at little…

This interest group is whole heartedly against abortion of any kind and against censorship of prolife activities and literature, citing First Amendment Right of Freedom of Speech. In today’s modern times of freedom to do as we please, wear what we please, even be of whatever gender we please, it is difficult for women to accept limitations of what they can and cannot do to their body. The Right to Life Committee believes in God thus most of its activities are based on their faith. The prime example being ‘Thou Shalt not Kill’ which is one of the 10 Commandments.…

I agree with you on that white privilege is also shown in feminist movements: all the frontline advocates are white females. Feminist movement concurred with the civil rights movements in which black males sought equality with white males. Under the oppression of both racism and sexism, female with color hardly had chance to stand out and expressed their opinions. In addition, reformist feminists, usually white, materially rich female, actively suppress poor women, especially women with color, to demonstrate their power because they cannot and do not want to change the existing privilege system.…
