Racism has been a widely discussed as a social menace for many decades. African Americans are perceived as the lot that experienced the most detrimental effects of ethnicity. It is evident that even in the contemporary epoch where people have become civilized and globalized, racist ideologies are still being perpetuated in different social platforms such as the media. Racism is therefore a predicament that will sober minded global leaders to come together and eradiate the menace. With racist ideologies evident among children especially in learning institutions, it is clear that this is an issue that needs to be addressed as an international crisis.

Integration depicts to the art of bringing people together irrespective of their forms of social affiliations. Integration implies that people work together as human beings without any barriers emanating from ethnicity and racism.
Segregation on the other hand depicts to discriminative prejudices that emanate from ethnic and racial biases. Through segregation people devalue each other and see their colleagues as enemies (Merino 45). Segregation means that people cannot embrace diversity but rather capitalize on differences as weaknesses rather than strengths.
Why the class Minniejean Brown visited had “self-segregated”?
The class that Minniejean Brown visited consisted of the majority whites and the minority blacks. As such due to the existing social prejudices the emanating from the racism, the children been acculturated to think that racism is a social order that needs to remain all the time. As a result the blacks always felt discriminated against and inferior while the whites felt superior and disregarded their black counterparts.
