In a competition, there are always winners and losers, and of course, everyone would want to be a winner. What about being a loser? Is it very bad to be a loser? If you think that being a loser is the worst thing in your life, the movie Little Miss Sunshine will change your thought.

The movie Little Miss Sunshine directed by Jonathan Daytona and Valerie Faris is telling a story about a crazy family in New Mexico that “everyone pretends to be normal”. All the characters in this movie seem to be normal but actually they are NOT NORMAL. The opening montage introduces each member in the Hoover family to the audience one at a time. During their road trip, there are lots of struggles going on on their way. The first struggle is their old van that cannot start moving without being pushed by everyone in the family. The second struggle is the fact that Dwayne is colour blind and cannot get into flight school anymore. He is very depressed and upset when he finds out about it. He refuses to continue the road trip and tells everyone to leave him alone, but then he changes his mind after receiving a warm hug from his caring sister. The third struggle is Grandpa’s death. He dies overnight of a heroin overdose. The family cannot afford to pay for the embalming and funeral due to their financial troubles, so they have to find a way to get his corpse out of the hospital and manage to hide it in the van until Olive arrives at the competition. And the last struggle is the fact that Olive has no ability to win this competition because the other girls look more mature and seem to have more talent than her. Dwayne tries to convince Sheryl to stop Olive from attending this competition as he does not want his sister to face failure like him. He knows what it tastes like. But she disagrees and lets Olive tries her best in the
