The play I attended was The Little Mermaid. I watched it on March 18th, 2017. It was preformed by Garber High School, in the Ankney Auditorium. This was the first play that I have attended in over ten years and it was a great play to watch. Before the play I didn’t not get to look around, but I did get to look at the setup that is on the stage. The stage was a proscenium and it was a lot larger than Delta’s stage. A couple adjectives that describes the atmosphere of the theater is Lively, Playful and Joyful. I chose these because there was bight colorful lights on the stage. That caused them to make the atmosphere all those adjective, and they were playing up to beat music that made you think it was going to be a very happy play. For the program …show more content…
The people who she conflicts with is her father King Triton and her aunt Ursula. Arial is a sweet girl who wants to be independent, she is courageous, and she is extroverted. King Triton is big-headed, he is angry, and he is fearful of losing people. Ursula is hateful, she is angry, and she is jealous. I feel that the actor for Aril is honest, crazy, and very questioning. For her father King Triton, I feel that the actor is dramatic, strong, and loving. Finally, for Ursula, I feel that the actor it very dramatic, crazy and honest. A moment that I thought was very effective was when they sang the song “Under the Sea”. All the cast members were dressed up in all kinds of sea animals. They came in the side doors and then they would run down the sides of the seats. The costumes were amazing and the whole stage was full of people. They danced, and they sang. The music was played very loud and the lights were very colorful. It was right before the intermission and it was a great way to end the first scene. No characters directly addressed the audience, but some of the people were given flashlights by the cast members. The flash lights were used during one of the scenes. A couple adjectives that represented the scenery was colorful, big, and realistic. The boat they used was very big and made it look like a real one. For the costumes a couple adjective that represented them would be very bright, colorful, and had many …show more content…
For being a high school play, the set was amazing. There was no walls or areas blocked off. They used all the stage. The upper right and left were used for certain scenes. They would bring in big props in those areas. The set was made by lots of props. The props were made by the students and were done great. They kept them in the hall way and brought them in when they needed them. They had a huge boat that looked very real. They made all the props look real life and it brought the play to life. The lights played a big role in the production. They used spot lights for some scenes when a person was singing. Also, the lights would change color. For example, a part of the play when Ursula was trying to get Arial to give her, her voice, the lights were green and they had a smoke machine and they had light flashing for lighting. For the sound, they had lots of sound effects. They were used when people bad people would enter, a thunder sound would be played. Next the sound was loud, and music played a big role in the play. You could hear all the actors perfectly and clearly. The high point of the action was when Ursula took Arial’s voice. It was the most intense part of the play and there was a lot loud dark music and there was smoke from the fog machine. The character that changed the most was the father of Arial, King Triton. In the beginning of the play he did not Arial to talk to any humans or even be anywhere near them, because he thought

All I can say is, the story had somewhat of a quicker pace and sometimes harder to follow and small details could easily be missed, and the lighting was a tiny bit distracting when it flashed across the stage quickly. The use of sound effects was used to signify different things that caught the attention of the viewers and really added a special touch to the play. The play showcased beautiful and stunning singing which made the play more authentic, combined with the elaborate dances numbers truly made the show breathtaking and…

On the evening of Saturday October 8th, the cast of the play Fuddy Meers took the stage and put on a unique and exquisite performance. The play took place in the Temple Theatre which I found was a highly interesting venue. There were several different elements that I found greatly intriguing during the course of the ninety minute performance, however, there were a few elements that I felt were also lacking. The first element that I believed helped to add significance to the performance was the stage setup(1). The revolving setup of the stage was perfect for this play and it allowed much versatility for the characters during specific instances.…

On November 22nd , 2015 , I had attended a play “A servant of Two masters” that played downtown Pittsburgh at the O’Reilly theater, the play was directed by Ted Pappas. He had put together a creative and intriguing play, having actors stay spontaneous and interact with the audience, therefore no parts would be found boring nor dry. All the actors had held up their end of their roles quite well, by fully disguising themselves as that character they were suppose to be during the entire play. In the play “A Servant of Two masters” is about a girl Clarice who originally had an arranged marriage but was called off due to her fiancé death, who was Federigo Rasponi of Turin.…

The movie played on the screen while actors acted on the stage. The actors never said anything just moved their lips to seem as if the characters in the movie where giving the actors their voice, never throughout the movie did the actual actors talk or even make sounds. Throughout the whole musical, the staged portion was lit by only one huge spotlight. There was no extra lighting that was added or special effects lighting, just one huge spotlight. Everything that was being acted out in the scene or that was important was in the spotlight.…

I thought the play was well written well played and the actors really did an awesome job of grabbing my attention. The actors acting from the emotionally standpoint was very well played with the crying and you could even feel it during their soliloquy songs as if what was displayed in the musical actually happened to them which was very good. Also, the singing was very good, the actors’ vocals had good harmony pitch and volume making it tolerable. The audience laughed at the jokes and for some reason they clapped at the end of each scene but my knowledge of live plays are limited as it was my first one. Most of the audience stayed after the show to meet the actors and tell them what a good job they did.…

The costume for Antigona was a simple white flowy long dress, and Antinous and Coryphaeus’s costumes were nicely fitting suits. The sound effects used for this performance such as the sounds of the birds calling to each other and flying around made it feel as if this performance was happening in real time. These production elements where the two main things for me that made me feel as if I was actually in this time period and watching this happening.…

Who doesn’t like a good movie? For many, it is the most joyous form of escapism. Viewers could break from their social and humanly limitations, and immerse themselves into the life and role of the star character; the hero or the heroine. One would find love, romance, innate super-powers, and finally, social acceptance (sometimes even reverence), all within the gratifying time frame of two hours. Like sex, their transferred-to-on-screen alter ego would build up to a climax, to at last explode into a blissful finale of physical and mental transformation.…

The play “Rumors”, by Neil Simon, is an interesting tale of lies, confusion, and, most importantly, rumors. The Wrangler Theater production of this play really brought out its best, and blew me away. Firstly, the main theme for this play would best be summarized by the Mark Twain quote, “If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.” The entire play is basically about miscommunication and lying in an effort to avoid scandal.…

The Royal Family, written by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, is a play about three generations of a wealthy family during the 1920s. I watched the play on December 6, 2015 at the Pierce College Arts Building. The play was directed Anita Adcock, who did great job setting the play as she intended it to be. Everything from the costumes, the lighting, to the typecasting was excellently produced. Particularly, the set design was able to greatly express the theme of the play.…
