We believe family involvement to be a crucial part of a child 's learning and development. A family 's involvement in a child 's education can provide important information about a child 's needs, interests, likes, dislikes, limitations, and abilities, that can only be seen at home by the child 's family members. Families can also continue teaching a child at home, after school, giving the child valuable experiences. Also, when the family is involved in their child’s education, it can boost the child 's self-confidence, self-identity, and motivation for learning.

After reading the required resource for this week’s discussion board I choose Family Engagement in Anywhere, Anytime Learning. When it comes to family engagement in anywhere, anytime learning it is very important for families to engage early in the child’s learning. “Families living in neighborhoods with low-performing schools, crime, and poverty often have diminished access to high-quality early childhood and afterschool programs, summer learning experiences, and cultural institutions” (Lopez & Caspe, 2014, p. 1). “Families can uncover and nurture children’s and youth’s growing interests and match children’s strengths with various opportunities” (Lopez & Caspe, 2014, p. 3). I will encourage my own children to focus solely on school and encourage them with love to improve themselves. On another note, I will provide my students with the most stable and loving environment possible. There are several students who come from a destructive and broken home, and I want them to feel safe and loved at school; therefore, I will do my best to provide them with that type of environment. Additionally, I will encourage students’ parents to be involved with their student’s education and provide opportunities for parents to assist their children in the classroom. Ultimately, this chapter has taught me how significant family and culture will shape a student’s learning.…

It has long been thought that the way in which parents raise their children is key in many aspects regarding the adolescent years of these children, and this notion is supported by vast amounts of research.
