One of the books I read in quarter two is Someone Named Eva by Joan Wolf. In my opinion, it is a fantastic book and I rate it a nine out of ten. The book is about Germany during World War II. Dark topics are usually not my cup of tea, but this one is well written with a wonderful plot. While reading this book, I love that Milada, the main character, still remembers her name, despite a long journey that includes brainwashing.…

Jessica Risner Heather Ward English 1101-41 October 5, 2015 “Love You Forever” Literary Analysis One of my favorite stories to read to my daughter is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The story is about a mother who sneaks into her son’s room, once he is sleeping, and sings a song to him. She sings to him these words “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be (pg. 14).” My favorite part about this story is that once her son is a teenager, and even a grown adult, she still sneaks into his room and sings her song to him.…

Texts portray hidden agendas through characters and actions. This is evident within William Faulkner’s “As I Lay Dying”(1935/2004) in which characters are shown to have hidden agendas that contribute to the climax of the story. Although, the novel is centralized on the death of Annie Bundren and the burial of the family’s dead mother, the characters themselves possess their own stories. The themes prevalent within the text are the power of perceptiveness as well as Darl’s insanity versus reality. These notions are explored within section 27 (pp. 96-97) of the novel and are narrated by Darl.…

In the summer of 1795, in Georgetown, South Carolina, a baby girl was born to Monifa Akisha, or as she was now called Sally, and Master David Tupper. That baby was me, the product of a relationship that no man would ever dare to even think of lest he desired a breathless end in a poplar tree. My parents didn't fear the consequences as much as they feared the judgement.…

and Mr. Wright are perhaps the most important characters of the play; the murderer and victim. Although neither character makes an appearance, one of them in jail and the other dead, much is inferred about them and their relationship through the dialogue of the characters, particularly Mrs. Hale who was their neighbor. It is a widely known fact by all the characters that Mrs. Minnie Wright was oppressed, mainly by her husband, but through Mrs. Hale’s recollection, we discover about the life of Ms. Minnie Foster. Before she was wed, Minnie Foster “used to wear pretty clothes and be lively…one of the town girls singing in the choir” (Glaspell 322).
