You told me that little bit was taken away from your sister, Deborah, tell me about that. Ms. Hopkins said DHS is involved for Deborah testing positive for numerous drugs in her system when she gave birth to Little Bit. Deborah tested so high that the doctors stated they knew he would also test positive for the drugs. Those test results however, will take weeks. At that point they had to figure out what to do. I asked if she knew what kind of drugs she tested positive for. She said she doesn’t know drugs and has never done drugs before. The doctors told her meth, and something called bars or something that people take, and there was something else that even she didn’t know. When Little Bit was born did he have any complications that you know of? She said he jerked and physically acted it out with her arms. Ms. Hopkins said she felt the jerking, with time, got better and better and better. Ms. Hopkins stated the hospital monitored Little Bit for a week prior to releasing him to go home. Then he lived with her for approximately five (5) weeks now. She said, “It feels like it was a lot longer than that.” Every three (3) hours you feed Little Bit, how many ounces would he eat at a sitting? She said about four (4) ounces. Ms. Hopkins described Little Bit as having normal sleeping patterns and that he was a good sleeper. I asked how much he slept last night. She said she does not remember. She said she does remember her being tired because she stayed up later than normal making sure she had stuff in line for the cleaner that was coming to clear her house today. She said since having Little Bit, he took up the majority of her time and needed to pay for a cleaner because she just didn’t have the time anymore to clean or keep up. Can you please walk me through a normal daily routine with Little Bit. …show more content…
Ms. Hopkins started by saying they were going to a different daycare. She was taking Little Bit to a daycare on the other side of town at a church. “Little Angels or something like that”, she said. Once he turned 6 weeks she was able to transfer him to the Eastar Hospital daycare. Ms. Hopkins said, “I should have kept him at Little Angels.” I asked why she said that. Ms. Hopkins said, “Because I had the routine down. She would have to go to the other side of town.” She said, she “Keeps playing it over and over in her head of why she passed it. She would have had to just drive through the parking lot and park in her normal place, just like she did before she had Little Bit. That’s the only thing she can think of.” I then got a routine and understanding for Ms. Hopkins. She said she does not do drugs or drink. She only takes Neurontin. I told her I was not familiar with it. She said it isn’t anything bad. She takes it for her neck injury she received in a car accident. I have since had a chance to consult with Dr. Hoos as I commonly do when I have any medical questions. I asked him about the uses for Neurontin, to gain a better understanding of the medication. He stated it is used generally as an anti-epileptic medication, but is also used to treat nerve pain. She explained she takes it three (3) times a day and the milligrams that she takes. Ms. Hopkins while explaining the rest of her daily routine she remembers being so tired this morning and telling her mom how
