The country’s mentality on sanitation is lacking, environmental disasters or terroristic actions that cause a city to stop running only reminds us of the duty that a trash man has. We take for granted the ability to open presents on Christmas with beautiful packages that last for days and they are sent off to live a lifetime in the…
Large decreases in the algae population will most likely impact the bay ecosystem by killing off organisms and plants. Algae is a crucial plant in the Chesapeake Bay that needs to steadily grow to keep the animal population consistent. Bay grass, also known as underwater grass, grows in the superficial areas of the Chesapeake Bay. It is crucial to the environment because it absorbs extra nutrients, shelters small fish, and keeps the water looking less murky. Like Algae, Bay grass provides oxygen, food, and nutrients and is an important plant in this ecosystem.…
It may not be apparent to many when going about their day that they could potentially be breaking laws. Frank Trippett in his article claims that many people break laws everyday without even noticing it whether it be jaywalking, littering, or even just being too loud in a public domain. Some people would feel as if everybody should know the laws and know that, for example, jaywalking is illegal, many of us know this but for the young kids who have never been talked to or confronted by the police would not be aware to these laws which therefore would lead them to just be “crossing the street” cause they did not want to wait at the light. Many people break laws all the time, most are aware when they do, but others are not as educated about the law system or how it works or what laws even actually exist.…
A city like this should be taken care of, and it’s a shame how the people that people that are suppose to take action they don’t. Ive volunteered in countless clean ups and its saddens me to see so much trash. Trash is the one thing that takes away the beauty in things. It shocks me how some people can be so dirty and let our city look the way…
For example, if cities were so clean that there was not a single piece of trash on the street, or in any public place, littering might not be such a big deal. However, most cities are riddled with trash. It is not one of those things that they do not want done just because. If littering continues to grow, the result could be catastrophic. Another…
After exploring portions of the garbage and other such refuse that can be found in modern Louisville, many people can conclude that Louisville is somewhat of a wasteful city. There are several places in Louisville that are greater in overall waste than others, and some places in Louisville are downright deplorable. The saying, "you are what you throw away" can to some extent be applied to Louisville because some degree of the cleanliness of the city as a whole can be determined by examining trash in small measures. The city of Louisville takes great pride in many of its parks and in the many opportunities with which it presents its citizens.…
For example they leave trash on the floor and they don't pick it up. It makes Santa Ana look dirty. It's important to fix this problem, so our community can be better again.…
As human beings it is our responsibility to take care of our homes and littering is disrespectful. If people do not stop littering there will be tons of pollution in the air making life much harder to…
The solution to this problem starts within the communities throughout the city. Philadelphia is known for being one of the largest cities in America but it also is considered one of the dirtiest cities as well. One of the first solutions is cleaning up the streets of Philadelphia. Throughout all my years of living in Philadelphia I have not gone a day without walking outside and seeing trash on the streets. Some of these problems are the fault of the citizens but also the city government as well.…
You’re out walking and once you finish the chips, you look around and realize you’re a hopeless puppy (metaphor) - there’s no public trash can anywhere! You have two options: you either litter like a madman (simile) or you patiently wait for a trashcan to appear. Most people unfortunately decide to litter. If a few trashcans were placed every few blocks, it’d be easier for everyone to throw away their trash and fewer people will decide to litter. Placing more trashcans will also make it easier for garbage collectors to gather up trash, not to mention it is better for the environment to live in a cleaner world.…
I noticed while going places around town that old, abandoned buildings were gone. Throughout the next weeks I became aware that more and more were being ripped down and that debris was being picked up everywhere, also. It looked incredibly nice compared to what I was accustomed to normally seeing. Construction businesses tore down the unused houses and buildings, and helpful community members collected litter around the whole town that was hurled on the dirt grounds. The best part about all of this was it was being performed for…
why do people litter? well i have an idea!! people litter because they are way to lazy to get their "couch potato" self up . People in the world are so messed up ; they think that just because they have a mom, and dad they get to do WHATEVER! another reason is they have phones.…
Plus littering could potentially be a fire hazard. Now that you know a little bit about the effects littering has on our environment, let's talk about what we can do to help improve our situation. According to my audience analysis 83% of the people in this class would volunteer to pick up litter of community service.…
I would also suggest a community cleanup operation and more street lights at these locations. If approved this would be my implemented response. I would then move on to the assessment stage. For this stage I would gather new data on the frequency of dumping and compare it to the previous data. The result would tell me numerically if the actions that I took had a positive effect on the community.…
There was a survey in 2005 that said 98 percent of Seattle households participate in the curbside recycling program, and that only 16 minutes are spent recycling in each household. What are those 16 minutes spent doing? Sorting, extracting, rinsing, bundling, and stomping. These are easy things that everyone can do, if you get more people in your house to help it could go by even faster. People are used to not recycling because they have never been forced to, but if everyone put recycling into their daily routine it would be a habit and not a…
