Only 3 percent of their services are abortion services. They find that out by taking the number of abortions and comparing it to the testing for hiv, cancer screening or provided woman’s contraception. A lot of people are trying to say that is not true and the numbers should be higher. But really non abortion services count for 97 percent of what Planned Parenthood is doing. People are also saying that Planned Parthood targets blacks and minorities. They say that because most of their clinics are in minority areas and they get the most abortions. They has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood targeting them and forcing them to get …show more content…
I only has 11 people take the survey so it wasn’t that big of a verity. Also most of the participants are between the age of eighteen and twenty-three. What I thought would happen didn’t. Pretty much everyone taking the survey has heard of Planned Parenthood at one point or another. The correlation between religion and being against Planned Parenthood wasn’t present in this survey. No one in this survey said they wanted to defund Planned Parenthood, but it was a small number so that probably affected that. Out of the 11 people no one know all nine things Planned Parenthood does. The most people knew were seven out of the nine. The most common ones were STD testing, Education and abortion. The majority of the participants said the thing Planned Parenthood does the most is contraception. The survey did show that anyone who is in relationships know more about Planned Parenthood then ones who aren’t. That was one of the things I expected to find since you should be using some type of contraception and might need Planned Parenthoods help. I also saw that everyone knew Planned Parenthood does more than abortions, I was glad to see that. They also agreed that abortions are what they do the least. A lot of researches I found said they found most people want Planned Parenthood defunded and there was a strong relationship between defunding them and being religious. I did not find that in my surveys but it might have to do with the

In “The War on Planned Parenthood,” Katrina Heuvel analyzes threats to reproductive health from a Republican-controlled government. Heuvel critiques Congressional leadership for polarizing rhetoric, the numerous committees investigating Planned Parenthood, and the smear campaign against Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. The organization annually provides cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing to over 2.7 million Americans (78% of which are low-income), and Heuvel urges readers to fight for reproductive access. The article coherently argues for the preservation of Planned Parenthood, but the use of the Ad Hominem and hasty generalization fallacies undermines the author’s credibility.…

Planned Parenthood should not lose any funding or be shut down. Despite recent abortion controversies, Planned Parenthood should not be held responsible for pro-abortion advocates. The organization is pro-choice, and intends to give the choice back to the people in order to allow them to choose a better life for themselves. If Planned Parenthood loses its funding or gets shut down, people everywhere, but especially low-income families, will be put in a difficult standing in affordable health care and wellness. Furthermore, shutting down Planned Parenthood would put many people at a greater health risk than they have now, and worst yet, it will not end abortion.…

Out of the numerous services that Planned Parenthood offers the public, only three percent of all of their procedures are abortions; meaning that ninety-seven percent of everything they do is basic health care and other medical services. Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, lists the statistics in her article, Today, We Fight Back, “every year, 2.7 million people come through the doors of our health centers, a million people participate in our sex education programs, and 60 million people get health information and other resources from us online.” Since the Republicans who drafted this bill often focus on abortion, they completely ignore all of the good that Planned Parenthood does for the community. Getting into doctor’s offices can be incredibly long and hard process, as documented in Cecile Richards’ article; she talks about a woman that she met who, after her husband lost his job, lost their health insurance. After finding a lump on her breast, she only found two clinics that would take her on as a patient, but they had two-month long waiting lists, so she went to Planned Parenthood.…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
