Literature EOPA This year I did free reading and I would say that that was a great idea for me since I have been so busy. I started the year with reading LGBT+ books and ended the year with starting the divergent series. Throughout the year I had many ups and downs and I realized I read more when I am going through a low point and not as much while going through a high point. The first book I read was about a boy realizing he was gay and being christian he faced a lot of hate and discrimination after coming out and when he finally came out his dad was very accepting and so was his grandma. They lived in Texas and were from Mexico and moved to America when Manuel was about four. He comes out and starts a gsa in his school. I found that this …show more content…
I found the stories in the book were so different from each other and I realized that each coming out story is vastly different from each other and that these are just normal people who happen to like something different from what the social norm and what the majority of the population believe. LGBT+ community members can become 2nd class citizens in their country. This is not something that can be changed overnight but it is something at the nation is working towards.
After I went thru that phase of books I moved on to John green books. I read Fault in our Stars and Paper Towns. Both books were amazing but Fault in our Stars was my favorite. It is a cute love story that ends completely differently. Everyone thinks Hazel will be the one who passes but is gus who ends up passing. I think the story shows that you should never take life for granted and enjoy every moment you have with family.
The end of the year I read the Divergent series and I am only two books in but that is okay. I am so into this series I can't believe that beatrice(tris) would leave four and go with his dad and betrayed four it just doesn't make sense to me at all. I am so ready to finish the series and I can't wait to be done so I can watch the
