Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809. His parents, David Poe, Jr. and Elizabeth Arnold Poe, were present in his life for long. At a young age, Poe’s father disappeared without a trace. A little while, later his mother became sick and died from tuberculosis, and he was introduced into the Allan family. Former family friends, John Allan and Francs Allan Valentine, took Poe into their home where he lived a privileged lifestyle. John owned a tobacco company in which he wanted Poe to join him in. His inspiration for a portion of his work was now gone. He began to let his health slip as well as his finances yet again. “He began drinking more often, resorting to alcohol as a means of escape.” (Veronica Loveday, Edgar Allan Poe). On October 3, Poe found himself in Washington College Hospital, where he later passed. On October 7, 1849 Edgar Allan Poe died from congestion of the brain. Others will argue that it was due to his alcoholic tendencies but no other theories have been proved.
In a life time Edgar Allan Poe wrote plenty of literature.
