Over the course of My research it was really hard to pick a literary text I wanted focus on which cover both the pre and post colonial in Africa, because most authors focused on both era or only one era . I finally came to a conclusion and picked “ Things falls Apart” by Chinua Achebe. I always wanted to know why? Chinua Achebe wrote this Novel I have read several articles and a lot of people write and talk about the novel inspiration and the reason why the author wrote about this unique novel, which was to show the aspect of Nigeria, people didn 't know about or usually see in a novel like the Precolonial and post colonial era and the author also wanted to initiate a different representation of Nigeria,rather than the stereotypical

Women had less power and little or no involvement in politics,or decision making because women were seen as the weaker gender. This is where the question of gender inequality comes in. In "things fall apart" Okonkwo said to a man who had no title " this meeting is for men" this statement was made due to the fact the man had no "title” which was common among women, but unfortunately Okonkwo wasn 't supported by other men in the in the meeting. This lead to him apologizing for the statement he made. The title holders where all men, but wasn 't in support of calling women the weaker gender. Although politics were based on gender inequality because no woman had any title, but looking at it from another perspective. For example. Okonkwo was seen going against the rules of the land. He was punished according to the rules of the land, even though he was the star of the land. This shows that the system wasn 't corrupt or partial nobody was above the law. What if the women of the land felt safe with the men in power since they were truthful and honest. If it was the other way around am sure one woman would have started the movement to strip all the men of their title. In sum gender is one key thing that the author used to show the society
