Throughout the story , he uses multiple pieces of repetition. On page 6, he stated, “These walls-are you going gentlemen ?- these walls are solidly put together.” This piece showed the repetition of the word walls so he could very clearly express the focus of the attention.
One of his other stories he wrote “ The Tell Tale Heart”, also uses multiple situations of repetition. Some included similar signs of repetition when he was talking to the police in both of the stories. Lastly, Poe used a fun, sarcastic, and jokingly manner called grim humor. Grim humor is pretty much making fun of death situations like nothing had just happened. As Poe stated on page 5, ”When I had finished, I felt satisfied that all was right.” So just to clarify, before this he had just killed his wife and put her in the wall. Notice how he feels like all is fine and that killing a person is fine. He puts it sort of in a serious manner that we can tell he is clearly fine that his wife is dead. In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe was not only a very terrifying writer, which who would make you sleep with your light on, but also a very detailed and gory person.
