The Chorus and Nurse were in full support of Medea getting revenge but they did not support Medea killing her own flesh and blood. When Medea had the nurse go to retrieve Jason she willingly went even though she did not fully agree with Medea’s plan. Instead of giving in to Medea’s wishes she could have been defiant, however, she was scared Medea would kill her if she rebelled. The Chorus who stood by as Medea killed her children could have stepped in and stopped her but they did not. I feel like they did not because there is the possibility that if they would have tried to stop her they would have died too. Medea is a woman who like any other woman acts on her emotions. She has been hurt by a man’s betrayal, and for that she is willing to risk her own happiness for Jason’s retribution. She does not want to be seen as weak and she states this when she says, “let no one think me a weak one, feeble-spirited.” It is in my opinion that if Medea really loves her children as she says, she would not have killed them because of Jason’s ego and mistakes.
