Briefbolism In Fire And Ice, By Robert Frost

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I-I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the different.” (“The Road Not Taken”) The road symbolizes how the individual had to evaluate and determine his decisions. Making his decision was a major decisive and extensive moment during his life span. He wrote just about ten books in his lifetime that many people admired. American poet and journalist Robert Frost depicts aspects of his life and philosophy on man’s choices, truth in nature, and realism within his writing. Frost was an intelligent and highly honored man throughout his long lifetime. Frost writes, “Some say the world will end in fire/Some say in ice/From what I’ve tasted of desire” (“Fire and Ice “1-3). In the poetry “Fire and Ice” by Robert Frost he considers the idea of the world culminating mixed in with a sentiment of aspiration while on the other hand, he interprets ice along with hatred. An infer that even though he does side with the fireside, it does not necessarily mean he agrees with it. It proves that symbolism is necessary for a deeper insight Aside from the other symbolic line, he provided more symbolism in some of the other poems. For example, in “Dust and Snow”, he uses the crow to symbolise the hurt he has felt throughout his life, the mistreat and resentment, the guilt of not believing that he was ever good enough. Then he began to realize that things are not as bad as they seem when he says “Has given my heart/A change of mood/And saved some part”(5-7), it illustrates that even though something tragic has happened, there is still a way to move past the cloud of misfortune and pull himself together no matter how many crows may block his
