In this class, we usually learn about JROTC subjects, but after learning about them, we would have to write a set length for our essay about what we had just learned. From this, I experienced more writing outside of English class and further helped improve my writing skills. Other than People and Institutions, a resource in the form of technology help form my experience in literacy from home. At Skyline High School, they have the Computer Academy, which helps students learn with a new and up to date resource that students before have not acquired. From this, we can have information on anything in an instant and with our devices that we use everyday it’s just another form of resource. Going into High School, my experience with the Sponsors their have shown me a new way of just reading a book. Now when I read a book, I try to find a movie or a graphic version of it to help put words into pictures. With writing, I grew up not wanting write, but my Sponsors showed me how writing can help me remember what I just read by writing words I do not know and their definition or writing lines to force what I’m writing to be remembered. With this new knowledge of literacy it has helped me become a better person and student because the skills that have been taught to me by the numerous sponsors through my years of growing made me better understand a subject by writing it out rather than hearing it in a lecture form or practices shown to me that I now use to help me.
