Literacy Narrative: My First Choir Concert

Literacy Narrative For weeks I spent multiple hours continuously listening to songs of different genres trying to find one that meant a lot to me. Well I continued to have lingering thoughts of this being my last choir concert, I finally came across a song that really stood out to me. The lyrics really did not relate to how my life tended to be, so the next day I went to school to ask my choir instructor if I could possibly transform the lyrics of the song so it would be more personal to my father and I. Once I got the approval from my teacher, it took quite some time to replace the unwanted lyrics in the song with words that would be more meaningful to me. This would be the first concert that my father would be attending to watch me sing, which is why I wanted the performance to be so special. After all of the hours I spent trying to find the perfect song for one of the most worthwhile …show more content…
As I walked in the auditorium I noticed all the seats were full. I immediately started to feel my nerves shake as I sat in that red auditorium chair looking up at the stage. I watched a couple other seniors sing before me which helped calm my nerves. Suddenly it was my turn to take the stage, I walked up to the microphone still feeling a little nervous. With a shaky voice I introduced myself. The music began to play I concentrated straight ahead of me and began to sing. I knew if I looked at my family they would be wiping away the tears that would be running down their faces, and seeing my parents cry I know would make me emotional and would make me get choked up. When the end of the song approached I glanced over to my family and I saw my mother wiping her tears away, I immediately looked away as tears filled my eyes. I finished the song, exited the stage and went back to my seat well everyone applauded. Knowing that people liked my song and the lyrics I put in there made me really
