Literacy in my life comes within my extensive knowledge of the fire and EMS field. I grew up with a father that was a firefighter, and a mother as a nurse. I grew up around the emergency setting, as well as the medical field. My father taught me everything he knew since I can remember. He would tell me stories about how he would get called to a structure fire, and carry my mother and me along. My father would fight the fire while my mother and the infant me would sit in the car and wait. There are vivid memories of how my father would take me for a ride in the firetruck through a parade, and all I can remember is having a big smile as I heard the loud air horn blow. That was my childhood; that is how I grew up to be who I am
