Allison enjoys listening to stories and representing her understanding through illustrations. She likes to write about family, animals and her weekend. When she is interested in a topic she will go on to write many ideas but if it does not pertain to her interests she requires encouragement to remain on task. Allison often engages in task avoidance strategies like sharpening her pencil, coloring, etc. She benefits from having a timer near by or having mini goals set in order to motivate her to complete her task in a timely manner. Allison is becoming better at being able to stay on topic. Her sentences can be repetitive and she continues to work on developing her sentence fluency. Allison’s goal was to use punctuation in her writing, which she is experimenting with but has a hard time using it correctly. and a Bee. and they wanted to fight.” She is able to consistently skip lines and her writing has become easy to read. Allison is able to spell some high frequency words correctly and utilize them in her writing. She is beginning to add dialog and sounds into her writing to make it more interesting. An example of this is when she wrote a fractured fairytale. Allison knows stories have a beginning, middle and end and with support is able to write one with all elements. Allison demonstrates citizenship in learning by treating others with compassion in the classroom and is always willing to help clean up or organize. Allison continues to be supported in her reading through small-guided reading groups and readers theatre. She reads quietly with good pace and likes to add emphasis. Allison tracks with her finger and is able to retell important events of a text when prompted and given
