The public library afterschool programs are among many different resources within the community offered to students and parents. With the constant struggle many families face within the poverty line, programs such as the leap after school program grants many parents a relief if they face financial hardship and difficulties. Financial hardship like many other hardships may contribute to the absence of parents who often take additional job opportunities to feed their families. This additional job opportunity can contribute to children missing out on completing assignments on time as well as students having no where to go immediately following dismissal from school. The Literacy Enrichment After-school Program (LEAP) provides homework assistance, computer literacy, and library skills for students in grades K–12, and daily literacy enrichment activities for elementary school students. By learning to bridge the gap of parents feeling unwelcome or even uncomfortable when involving their selves in their children’s school. As an educator often times we face ongoing challenges to develop methods and systems to gain parents trust and communication. Several different people have viewed the demand of situating the ongoing communication and partnerships of teachers and parents as crucial when it comes to bridging the gap many parent and teachers have when a relationship is not placed. Therefore, it is essential that every effort be made to establish and maintain with parents. My communication plan for parents will allow them to be involved in every aspect of their child’s progress, while giving them several opportunities to stay involved during the duration of the school
