Literacy
Literacy comes in baby steps. Each person learns at their own pace, gradually stepping closer and closer to the fullest extent of literacy. Although some people start with smaller steps, all learners can reach full literacy potential through trial and error.
When I moved from Magna to West Valley, I had switched schools. The new school I switched into implemented a reading log. I hated reading, it was one of my weakest skills. On the other hand, my mom loved reading. She wanted to share her favorite hobby with me, but I had absolutely no interest in it. She thought I would get into reading if I had something I was interested in, in that sense she bought me Hannah Montana books. I was totally engrossed with Hannah Montana at the time, but my mom didn’t know that all the books were already on the television. …show more content…
My lowest grade was a B- and as I proceeded throughout the school year I had straight A’s. I was also surprised that my favorite class throughout high school was English. He made everything so easy and clear for me to understand and when I had a problem he helped me to my the fullest extent. He actually got me interested into reading actual reading, (by actual reading I mean books without pictures in them) that 's how I developed my obsession with Harry Potter. Reading was a pathway into a different universe, I liked reading again.
Literacy is a mixture of critical reading, writing, thinking, and talking. In order for someone to reach their full potential, the person must master the skills of the levels below before they can reach the top. People do, however, learn at their own rate, and some may reach their fullest ability very young, while others may not reach it until late. Because of varying circumstances, some may not ever even reach the highest level. I still have a way to go to reach my potential and I’m okay with that. But, I’ll do it at my own pace despite the
