I read the prompt to him and then he completed the outline. In class they had previously practiced how to fill out the type of template that was given to them on this assessment. He was able to do this pretty well. Then he transferred his outline into essay form. This took him awhile because he had to keep rereading what he had written and wanted to make sure all his spelling was correct. He would write down different ways to spell a word until he thought it was spelt right. I thought this was interesting because I was able to see what areas of spelling he was struggling with. I related it to the words their way spelling tests we gave out student we are working with for our literary assessment. I could also see how he was sounding each word out and he was able to get the correct sounds down on paper even if it wasn’t the actual letters that should be
