We spend lunch time in his classroom because it was so interesting to have conversations with him. Among our many similarities was the strong passion for the Green Bay Packers. Both being originally from Wisconsin, we would spend hours talking about the Packers. Among those conversations at lunch one day we had a very serious one near the end of the school year. When he asked me what my plans after high school were. I told him I didn’t really know I guess at the time I was thinking more along the lines of taking a break for a few years from school, and maybe even the military. I hadn’t really thought about it that much. Shocked by my response he started telling me that if I were to take that decision I would be committing a mistake. He told me that life was hard out side of school and that competition for good jobs in recent years had grown. A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…
