Student: What people do on the weekend?
Teacher: Yes, that is correct. What are some of your favorite places to go on the weekend?
Student: I like going to the gym.
Student: I like going to the beach.
Student: I like going to the zoo.
Teacher: Those are all great ideas. Now what things must you consider before planning a weekend?
Student: Maybe if it is raining outside, one must bring an umbrella.
Student: Sometimes I must do homework, so I must decide on what is important.
Student: I only have a few hours to do something.
Teacher: That is excellent. Now I am going to give you a handout with some key vocabulary.

Student B: The video took place at a student center. Six students are talking…
Teacher: Excellent. Now I am going to have you write your own script. You will be in groups of three and you will act out what you will do on the weekend. First, plan out what each of you will do on the weekend. Second, choose a location where the conversation is happening. For example, the classroom, school, someone’s home etc. Third, write down your script. Fourth, practice your script. I will give you about 20 minutes to create and practice your role-play
After 20 minutes, students do role-play scenario on there plans for the weekend.

During listening, students will listen for unknown words, what each of the students will do on the weekend, and the general gist of the video. Post listening, the students will answer what each of the students in the video did and summarize the main ideas with their partner. Lastly, the students in groups will create a role play scenario talking about what they will do on the

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…
