Lion's Motto We Serve Research Paper

Decent Essays
The Lion’s motto “We Serve” empowers volunteers to encourage and serve their communities in any way possible. The two word motto is a statement that reminds us to put others before ourselves. As a child, my parents taught me the importance of helping others. Now, as a senior in high school I try to put this knowledge into action. I think the motto “We Serve” can apply to my life on a daily basis. Serving others doesn’t have to be a huge project; a helping hand is always needed. Opening the doors for others or offering to clean the dishes for someone else are everyday ways to serve those around us. I want to live a life I am proud of and set an example that others can look up to. Helping others allows me to share my time, money, and God’s love

That is what makes me proud of myself. I serve others every Sunday, because I volunteer to be a teacher assistant. In the mornings I assist the 5 year old teacher and the first grade, and in the afternoon I assist the 1st grade through 3rd grade teacher. As a volunteer I take kids to the bathroom, and cheek kids into the class, help set up games, get materials for the teacher, and take care of kids on the playground. These are some of the the times I serve others.…

I’ve never been able to decline help to someone in need. I always put everyone else's needs before my own because when I sacrifice myself in order to put a smile on someone else’s face it gives me peace. Contributing to a cause to make the world a better place is worth the sleepless nights. When one is passionate about helping people it won’t matter to them how long they have to go without food or how tired they will feel at the end of the day. Just this week, I’ve had several occasions where I gladly gave up my time to do people favors or help someone in need.…

In my life I have always gone above what was expected to help others, whether I am holding a door open for someone coming in or giving someone a smile that may make their day. I have always wanted to help others whenever opportunity approaches. Helping others reminds me of when it rains and after the rain comes a rainbow. At this time I started with medical assistant being that I would be able to help many people with such things like making an appointment, recording what is needed for the physician to care for the patient, or taking someone’s temperature. An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…

As an only child growing up in a middle class family, I learned the value of helping others through my parents. My hard working parents were brought up in Bangladesh, a third-world country in South Asia with devastating poverty. Moreover, my parents are very strict and disciplining individuals; they both loved to help others regardless of their physical endurance, mental health, or economic stability. As role models, they reared me in the belief that my goals in life should include lending a helping hand to others. Furthermore, my empathy for others has encouraged me to aid those in need.…
