The aesthetic aspect may have had differences because of technological advances, but I believe that the principles embodied in the movies are universal. I remember at the age of around 4 or 5, my favorite movie was the Lion King. The most important thing that stuck to me is that life revolves around a circular path. In Lion King, they go about the food chain, how big animals have power over the smaller animals. What made this interesting for me is how Timon and the other meerkats, which are just about 14 to 20 inches in length, joined forces underground to fight an even larger enemy. Wreck-it Ralph showed me that an arcade can be more than a dark place full of geeks. The arcade is a place full of emotions, you can see and hear people crying while others are laughing and shouting at the game in front of them. One main character in the movie is Ralph, the villain in the game Wreck-it Ralph; he is a tall, big guy with large hands. Quoting Ralph, “It becomes kind of hard to love your job when no one seems to like you for doing it”. What made Ralph extraordinary is the fact that he tried to do something about the situation. He did his best effort in trying to get a medal, to the point that he went to a totally different game full of gunfire, bugs bigger than him and bomb explosions. In the middle of his journey, he met a young girl, named Vanellope. She was the playful type of kid, that “borrowed”, Ralph’s medal as her ticket to the annual race. The old, “empty” Ralph was suddenly fueled with joy and love for this little girl. He learned the feeling of compassion and love.
