1. Why do you want to be a Link Leader? I would LIke to be a Link Leader because it the position provides me with an excellent opportunity to make an impact on incoming students lives. Going from junior high to high school is a big transition, especially when you are in a district as large as Wayzata. I was the first in my family to attend Wayzata high school, so I was not quite sure what to expect on the first day. It took a while for me to get the hang of high school, which resulted in a rough freshman year. As a sophomore I have a better understanding of how to do well and how the high school works. Being a Link Leader would potentially allow me to be, for several students, the difference between a great First year or a terrible first year.
2. A student is not participating in an orientation activity. What would you do? What steps would you take to include all members of your group in your activities? …show more content…
If a student is choosing not to participate in a game or physical activity I would briefly repeat the instructions, in case they are confused. If they still will not participate I would give them verbal encouragement to participate and I expect the student would reluctantly join the activity. At this point I would make sure to continue to encourage and engage the student, not to the point that it annoys them or detracts from the experience of the other
