My least favorite part of high school has been probably all the drama that has not only been personal, but in our class as a whole, and even sometimes between multiple grades. There really shouldn’t be any drama when our school and students are super accepting and kind to one another, but this year there was so much which was pretty sad. A challenge I have faced in high school has been the drama that has occurred this year. I have learned that most of the time it’s all a misunderstanding but people are too afraid to talk to each other about their problems. Also that if someone is spreading rumors or telling your friends things, it’s not good for you to keep it in and it is important to speak and stand up for yourself and confront the person. When confronting the person you don’t have to be mean or not be their friend anymore you can kindly confront them asking why they would tell people what they told them, or what caused them to, it's a good idea to try and see where they are coming from and to see if something completely different is happening to them causing them to lash out at

I want to be a Link Crew Leader because I would love to be able to mentor freshman as my previous Link Crew Leaders did to me. I also feel that becoming a Link Crew Leader would not only allow me to help shape freshman to become better people but to help me become a better person myself. I have been both a volunteer at a summer program for first and second graders and an assistant coach for the special needs program at Alta Loma Little League. At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. This leadership position not only taught me how to actively communicate with people who learn in different ways, but also taught me to become a stronger leader.…

The National Honor Society is based on four pillars, which are, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. In some ways, I have already shown three of these pillars in my first two years of high school. However, there are several other ways in which I plan to lead my school, serve my community, and build my character, during my final years of high school. As I have mentioned, there are some ways that I have already shown leadership, service, and built my character during my first two years at Parkway South.…

I would love to be a member of the senior planning team because the senior planning team helps promote change within the school. I believe, along with many other leadership teams at Alpena High School, the senior planning team is empowered by the staff, administration, and other seniors to make important decisions that powerfully impact the school and senior class. Without the senior planning team, many decisions would be left to the staff/administration to decide and, while this is still an excellent way to accomplish tasks, it removes the student involvement in the school. I am so grateful to have a school that values student input because it teaches its students how to take responsibility for their learning environment. As a member of the…

The idea of becoming a storm link leader has always intrigued me as a student. In our school I find that Storm Link is a great opportunity for students to support grade 9 students transitioning into high school, to develop connections with one another, and get involved in different activities around the school. I feel that this kind of club will benefit me as I am a very strong student in the area of working as a team. Collaboration is one of my strengths and I feel that being a part of this group will allow me to use my abilities and hep others through it. When working in a group I make sure that all ideas are heard, encourage everyone to participate, and create a friendly and energetic environment to work in.…

My freshman year was one of my craziest school year. It came from fake hall passes, to skipping in the restroom, and acting all bad by getting referrals. I remember my ap secretary always used to call me “Diablo” just because i always got in trouble and she said i used to drive her crazy. I just never cared about the consequence of skipping so much, good thing I never got caught. Meeting new friends and new attitudes and a little more of responsibility and to be honest waking up so early every single morning was not that fun.…

I was in middle-school when I first came but it was in high school that I truly grew to appreciate the wonderful community. My first year of high school was certainly unnerving, although I had previously attended an elementary and middle school that were more than double its size it still held an allure of suspense over what may soon come.…

The memory still lingers in my mind of when I walked into the enormous unfamiliar halls of my new high school for the first time. So many useless things had been said by everyone with regards to Freshman year, most of which were what seemed like cliche over exaggerated horror stories. Typical upperclassmen pranks played out on the incoming freshmen. As bogus as it may sound, I have been so gullible that I believed every word of every story anybody would tell me. It was to be expected that I would go into my first day of “official school”, anticipating complete torment.…

It was filled with regret and missed opportunities.…
