I want to be a group leader for The Spark because I believe that this is a great opportunity to meet new and exciting people, while also gaining experience working within UBC. Being a Sauderite is all about getting involved, and it’s our job to help all of the new students entering our faculty to adjust to the university lifestyle. We want them to feel welcomed, and to know that being a part of Sauder is like being a part of a club, not a faculty. I was fortunate enough to have had amazing leaders that made me feel like I was a part of Sauder after only one week, and I want to give next years' students the exact same feeling. I met my closest Sauder friends in Spark, so I hope that I'm able to help students make those same bonds that continue…

By being a generous leader, I set aside my own needs to take the initiative and make a positive change in the community.…

There are specific memories through life that have a profound impact on who we are and who we become. In retrospect, I never thought about being an educator until it was time to apply for college. My primary goal during most of my K-12 school career was to connect with my friends, listen to and discuss music and socialize. As I reflect on my critical experiences in my life that shaped my leadership, I start with my involvement in school activities and clubs. Although my goal at the time was not to be a leader, I was always the student that volunteered for everything and naturally assumed the leadership role.…
