Because I am a captain of two activities, I work very hard to be a leader. In cross country, I help lead practices and activities. In chemistry club, I plan and lead activities to ensure safety. I really have developed my leadership goals throughout my time as a captain.…
I have been called the “mom” of the friend group, the “mother hen” that is always looking out for her chicks, prepped with bandaids, hand sanitizer, and an extra pencil for loaning. Link Crew took that characteristic I have always had and bolted, floating high into the sky like the helium balloon whose ribbon easily slipped through a tiny toddler’s fist. Through Link Crew training, I learned that you don’t have to be extroverted to be a great leader. Sometimes the best leaders are those who speak less and listen more, the ones who observe before they act, the ones who lead by example as well as instruction. Leading wide-eyed freshmen around an entirely new building and watching their expressions transform from nervousness and anxiety to excitement…
NCWIT #1 Problem to solve using technology * Please answer in 150-250 words: please describe a problem that you would like to solve using technology and explain how you would solve it (this could be a social problem, a technical problem, a local problem, a world problem, etc.) A problem I would like to solve by using technology is the issue of bullying. Bullying is a major issue not only in the United States but all around the world, it most commonly occurs in schools. I could solve it by spreading through social media and other devices about the risks that bullying can lead to people.…
One of the most important extracurricular activities I have been a leader in is the JROTC program. This program has provided me with so many opportunities, whether it be to learn about myself or to serve others. For example, my involvement with the color guard helped me develop confidence in my abilities, and therefore helped me learn valuable leadership skills I would later apply to being commander of the team, then personnel adjutant, and ultimately battalion commander. Through being mentored and encouraged by others, I discovered I had the potential to be a leader. As a result of my involvement in the program, I have become more self-confident, and among other things, I have learned the importance of turning failures into success.…
I honestly did not believe that I was nor did I carry myself as a leader until I got to Wilson High School. In middle school, at church, and within the different programs I am a part I was given leadership positions and was “successful” in them but Wilson High School and its community have taught me what it truly means to be a successful leader. A large part of my high school career has been dedicated to the cheerleading program here at Wilson High School. This is the aspect of my life that has developed my leadership skills such as communication, patience, innovation, flexibility, planning and much more. My coaches, teachers, and teammates have all pushed me to become the leader that I am.…
The first time I was seen as a leader was in my junior year where I was first placed in the varsity team, with this came my ability to encourage, support and be a good resource for other team members.…
I would like to become a National Honor Society (NHS) mentor to give back to a club that helps make the community around us a better place. I believe that I am qualified for this position because I have exemplified the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. Education has always been a priority for me. I am truly interested in what I am learning and how it can apply to the world around us. I have shown Leadership through my Speech and Debate Team.…
Color guard is just another example. I always try to make sure my teammates understand before I begin to critique myself. While on the topic, I show leadership through activities such as color guard and Just For Kix. Every Thursday I help the Tiny Kix (three year olds) to Mini Kix (third grade) dance classes. I direct, choreograph, and am present for performances.…
Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…
National Honor Society review committee considers the most qualified students to be the ones who receive the honor of being inducted into the National Honor Society. The most qualified student displays only the most outstanding characteristics that separate them from others. The review committee should search for students who display characteristics such as leadership, respect, and reliability, which are three characteristics that I display. These preferred traits are prime examples of what makes up a person worthy of receiving a spot in the National Honor Society.…

Many schools required students to participate in volunteer programs to graduate. There are many places to volunteer in the community. Students could help the elderly or animals. I believe that students should be required to volunteer to receive their diplomas because volunteering shows leadership, teamwork, and selflessness.…
My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…
Each experience has taught me a new characteristic that applies for becoming a leader in every day experiences. From the smallest details to impacting lessons, I’ve taken a valuable point from my leadership roles especially in the times of High School and the Honors program in Miami Dade…
