One of the most important extracurricular activities I have been a leader in is the JROTC program. This program has provided me with so many opportunities, whether it be to learn about myself or to serve others. For example, my involvement with the color guard helped me develop confidence in my abilities, and therefore helped me learn valuable leadership skills I would later apply to being commander of the team, then personnel adjutant, and ultimately battalion commander. Through being mentored and encouraged by others, I discovered I had the potential to be a leader. As a result of my involvement in the program, I have become more self-confident, and among other things, I have learned the importance of turning failures into success.…
In the spring, they helped me run a clothing drive for Cradles To Crayons with my school and I even went to a reunion where we joined together again in Gillette Stadium and did community service. In the fall, when high school started, I heard about a peer leadership program at Girls Inc., an after school program I’d been attending since elementary school. Coming back from the experience of Project 351, I decided to apply. A week later, I found out I got in. The program was called Part of the Solution (POS).…
Doing whatever comes to a leader's mind could be a problem because in a society there are different mind sent between the younger and older generations. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” ― Helen Keller . What she meant by that quote is that working together can get us somewhere but working alone and thinking you could make it work will be hard and you will not be able to make your society happy. Every leader should have the characteristics, passion to help the community and make it a better place to acquire a good leadership.…
The Marine Corps leadership sets itself apart from the other services. Marines have a common core of beliefs instilled while at recruit training. Leadership understands the most precious asset is the individual Marine. Leaders have a responsibility to motivate and inspire Marines. The speed and tempo of the ever-changing world, and Corps, has caused certain aspects of styles of leadership to change and has resulted in a split in ideology.…
One way I plan to demonstrate leadership and service is through volunteering to be a sixth grade camp counselor. Counseling middle schoolers would not only improve my responsibility, but it would also be another way that I plan to serve my community and demonstrate leadership. Another way I plan to build character and lead is to join Link Crew during my junior and senior years. I remember my Link Crew leaders during my freshman year and they were very helpful and informative. I also hope to be same positive role model for incoming freshman who are nervous or have questions.…
As an avid member of my middle school community, I always take any opportunity to lead, encourage and impact my fellow students. Through leadership roles such as school wide sergeant at arms, sergeant at arms of my TSA chapter, and secretary of NEHS as well as participation in activities such as Science Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind, and X-STEM, I’ve been able to successfully reach my goals by reinforcing teamwork, commitment, and enjoyment. If selected to participate in froshcomm, I guarantee that I will provide an immense amount of effort and time to obtain the most enjoyable homecoming for my fellow peers. Additionally, throughout my various leadership positions and participation in clubs, I’ve attained many valuable skills and characteristics…
1. Recently, I have been involved in several activities that exemplify leadership. These include renovating the art display case in the vocational building to represent our school’s eagle creed, attending lessons every weekend which indoctrinate leadership skills for students, and joining several extracurricular activities within the school. The most prominent one, however, would be entering high school and seamlessly maintaining and even bettering my grades while in Honors classes.…
During the short weekend, I was overwhelmed by the many leadership development activities available to me and after using them was able to grow stronger as a leader. I was able to bring many of the skills taught to me back to my Student Council. After attending HSLC, I was inspired to become a better leader in my school and in the Student Council. As District 4 Vice President, one of my many roles was to organize the Fall Conference for all of District 4. This included all aspects of organizing the event such as putting together groups of leaders, making sure everything runs smoothly, and designing a t-shirt for the event.…
During this week I was able to meet with two students independently for the first time for Syntero. Both within the same school and this was a very exciting moment for myself. I feel the need and want to excel for this company which is a great thing. I think of this as a positive thing because it makes me push myself to do better and sometimes out of my comfort zone.…
To begin, I’d love to take part in Link Crew again as my previous experience with this group has been nothing but fun and rewarding. The Grade 9 students have developed so much since their first day at Abbey Park making new friends and obtaining diverse personality traits. Next, I love to work and meet new people as I gain so much awareness and knowledge and the relationship develops to a friendship. I can offer this year’s Link Crew my experience from last year as I’ve attended all meetings and events. Next, coming to Abbey Park with absolutely no friends and a hectic extracurricular schedule, I can offer this experience to others so Grade 9’s know that they can get through high school no matter what place they are in their life.…
Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…
From the beginning of my education, I have always been fascinated with working in medical fields. I have also always had my heart set on attending university in order to study my chosen subject, Paramedic Science/Practise. I have chosen this as it would lead to a career i would love to do due to my massive respect for paramedics and the exciting and challenging role they have. This respect stems from having many family members involved in the NHS and healthcare. My sister, for example, is a massive inspiration as she has managed to work her way up from a student nurse to Head Sister in one of the busiest A&E units in the country.…
Lindenwood University’s Business Management Class has been involved with a fundraising project in which all classmates will participate at the end of the course. Each classmate has played a key role in planning and organizing the event. Certain classmates have taken a leadership role to ensure the event stays on track. Yet, after being made aware of their competitors, the group was forced to reevaluate their plan. As a group, they set forth the goals to work towards.…
I have been involved in UpLink. This is an organization within the school in which one must apply for to see if one can get accepted. This organization is to provide incoming high school freshman with advice and guidance. I became a mentor for them this year, and I help them with anything they may need. I knew that for the students to feel safe and comfortable with me I needed to showed them I cared.…
Abstract Crew resource management (CRM) is a global practice in aviation industry which decreased the rate of aircraft accidents. The main reason of writing this essay is to explain CRM, its characteristics and its different perspectives, such as good CRM practices and bad CRM practices. For example United Airlines Flight 232 is an example of good CRM which shows good leadership skills, quick actions on time, proper and adequate services, teamwork and best communication. Japan Airlines Flight 123 is the example of bad CRM practices. The improperly repaired part of the aircraft had taken the lives of 520 people.…
