When I read the question of “Is there a link between autism and vaccines” I started thinking of my 5-year-old cousin whose mom always suspected something was special about him. I also thought about how there is rarely any spotlight coverage on Autism, for me to immediately form my opinion. As I did my research I noticed it is a regular argument in which there are a lot of people for both sides. Those who said there is not a link and those who said there were. Most of the articles and documents who said there is no link between the two were by medical, health, vaccine, and more specialized and/or ‘credible’ sites. What they all have said is that studies have shown no link. Yet they do not provide any numbers or evidence to back up the ‘study’ that they trust in so much. On the CDC website they were one of the few to provide an entire study by Frank Destefano with the conclusion “In this study of MCO members, increasing exposure to antibody-stimulating proteins and polysaccharides in vaccines during the first 2 years of life was not related to the risk of developing an ASD.” (DeStefano). DeStefano’s research says that there is no connection between the two especially when they change the instances of the control groups such as socioeconomic status, or children with older siblings who have autism.
