Elekta Synergy S Linear Accelerator Lab Analysis

Improved Essays
Elekta Synergy S linear accelerator (LINAC) was used to produce the 6, 10, and 15MV photon beams for measurements. The accelerator is fitted with the new Agility multileaf collimators (MLC) thinner than the previously used MLC’s to improve a field definition (Kantz et al. 2015; Thompson et al. 2014). The quality assurance was carried out monthly to ensure the LINAC response does not vary from the commissioning data (CPQR 2013). The LINAC has been calibrated to 100 cGy/MU at Dmax for a 10×10 cm2, and daily output checking was performed to ensure that LINAC operated within the ±3% limit (Andreo et al. 2006). 3.2 Film

The right image shows the sensitive volume of a diode or diamond detector
The detectors were aligned visually with the cross hairs (centre of the beam, CAX), and then the OmniPro software is used to correct the positioning of the detector. The servo measured a depth dose curve to find the position of Dmax and 40 % of a maximum dose. Then in-line and cross-lines profiles are measured at these depths, and the position of the 50% level was determined for these profiles. The positions of the 50% for the profiles are compared and the offsets are then displayed.

The two detector method employs the use of a field and a reference detector. The reference detector is used to minimize the effect of dose rate fluctuations (Das et al. 2008). The single detector method utilizes the step-by-step mode of data collection, this mode moves the detector at specified step sizes and stops for a specified time. This minimizes the linac dose rate fluctuation which is the same function performed by the reference detector. The pause time was determined by comparing the profiles obtained from two detector method and the single detector method to optimize both the beam on time and the noise.
The single detector mode is further optimized by utilizing two algorithms that are within the Omnipro software. The gradient algorithm is used in measuring beam profiles as the detector’s step sizes alter if two positions have a difference that is more than predicted. The breakpoint algorithm was used for PDD measurements, as the algorithm changed the step sizes after a certain depth was reached. The output factors were measured by collecting signals with the sensitive volume of the detector placed at 10cm

The upper point on the main sequence which is the most densely populated with stars where the red giants seem to begin is called the turnoff point; the exact location of turnoff point indicates the age of the cluster. Deriving the distance and age of M52 We have already identified main sequence, turnoff point, and giant red for M52 shown in figure by comparing with Figure 1. A best fit line this will help to find the distance to open cluster M52 by using the techniques of best fit line.…

Furthermore, guidelines considering the selection of algorithms and input parameters for the MHNSGA algorithm are resulted from the analysis of real-world databases. When it comes to solving the controller placement problem with tens of millions placements for which performing the exhaustive evaluation requires a considerable amount of time and memory budget, our proposed heuristic approach is an appropriate choice. As described before, for such these large-scale instances, it is only possible to calculate an upper bound for evaluated placements and nothing can be expressed about the obtained accuracy of the heuristic algorithm. This is due to not existing the actual Pareto optimal solutions and hence, the absence of reference data to compare.…

The definition of an accelerant is a substance that accelerates the speed of fire or makes a fire more intense (Accelerant | Define Accelerant at Dictionary.com, n.d.). When forensic laboratories have debris that was collected from a crime scene they can use either the Headspace or the Vapor Concentration techniques to determine if there was an accelerant used. Both techniques use Gas Chromatography, which is separating mixtures based on their distribution between a stationary liquid phase and moving gas phase (Saferstein, 2011). The Headspace Technique was developed in the 1980’s to aid in explaining the odor compounds found in the air surrounding objects such as plants, flowers and food (Headspace technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, n.d.) Headspace analysis is the investigation of the components present in the gas, which is found at the top of the vial (Labhut Education Centre | Principles of GC Headspace Analysis, n.d.).…

One camera on the HDR after loader, another where the source enters/exits the patient and the last one monitoring the “radiation monitor” lights inside the room. It is so important to have audio and visual communication during radiation therapy treatment. Especially in HDR treatments, the treating oncology staff, particularly the doctor needs to be able to monitor the patient at all times and visually sees the source smoothly enter and exit the patient. • The survey meter needs to be turned on and tested for optimum operation before treatment • Verification of current activity of radiation source. This is so important because if the calculation of the activity is incorrect, and the patient is treated, then the patient risks being under dosed or overdosed for that treatment due to the miscalculation and incorrect treatment…

Purpose: Our previous computer models suggested that intraluminal thrombus (ILT) within an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) attenuates oxygen diffusion to the AAA wall, possibly causing localized hypoxia and contributing to wall weakening. The purpose of this work was to investigate this possibility. Methods: In one arm of this study, patients with AAA were placed in one of two groups: (1) those with an ILT of 4- mm or greater thickness on the anterior surface or (2) those with little (< 4 mm) or no ILT at this site. During surgical resection but before aortic cross-clamping, a needle-type polarographic partial pressure of oxygen (PO2) electrode was inserted into the wall of the exposed AAA, and the PO2 was measured.…
