Introduction:
Line Referees are assistant referees that helps the main referee on the sideline of the field to better help the main referee make the right call. They are closely watching the game on the sideline of the field and communicate with the main referee. They are there to make the right calls that the referee cannot see sometimes from the angle on the sideline. In some situations, it is really hard for the main referee to see some things and make the right calls. That is why almost every sport has assistant referees. The carry a lot of responsibility and they take a lot of pressure to improve fairness of the game.

Each assistant must watch their own half of the field. The assistant refs serve as a second pair of eyes to make calls on offside, sideline out of bounds ball, and foul play that the head ref can’t see. The offside calls are made when the attacking forward player is behind his opponent defender. It is hard sometimes to tell if there is an offside because of the high pace of the game and that is why they have a lot of pressure on some big games.
