Understanding, developing and utilizing various leadership styles and traits is essential to creating and maintaining a positive, effective and efficient work environment. Through analyzing and engaging with supportive mentors, it provides growing leaders with opportunities to develop their own leadership styles. Having the ability to utilize various leadership styles is essential when working with large groups of individuals, as each scenario and situation calls for differing leadership mannerisms. An interview guide was utilized to gain insight into the leadership styles of a strong, effective leader. This paper will critically examine leadership style and theory in relation to the leader that was interviewed for the purpose of this analysis.

Delhi Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a “community-owned, nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to providing quality health care to Delhi and surrounding areas” (DCHC, 2013). The health center was opened in 2003 with just one physician and quickly began to attract the attention of other physicians, however, the leadership team at that time was largely business orientated and failed to grasp the vision the community had for the center. They began to search for an individual that could mix the needs of the community, with the needs of the physician and staff and stay grounded in the vision of the organization. After reviewing more than 60 candidates, the organization ultimately decided on Linda as the best candidate with her wide array of experience in the health care environment with a good business sense and emotional intelligence.
