At the beginning of the article Lee says “Your child has gotten into a pretty good college. The question is: Is he ready? Should he go at all?” No parent will ever feel that their child is ‘ready’ to experience the real world, however they can not hold them back because of this. One needs to be allowed to experience life outside of home, this helps develop responsibility and lets the child discover who they really are. Everyone is going to make mistakes, whether they are at home, at college, or even at work. By the time a child is old enough to be considered an adult they should be old enough to experience life from somewhere other than under their parents roof.
