Linda Lee, the writer of “The Case Against College” proposed her article based strictly on uneducated opinion and avoided the facts of the importance of a college education. Lee writes on her story and why she thinks college is irrelevant. I strongly disagree with the author's stance and her reasoning behind her beliefs. Yes, college is expensive. Yes, people who go to college typically make more money than those who take a different route. However, college is designed to specifically focus on and better individuals for the specific career they have decided to go into.
At the beginning of the article Lee says “Your child has gotten into a pretty good college. The question is: Is he ready? Should he go at all?” No parent will ever feel that their child is ‘ready’ to experience the real world, however they can not hold them back because of this. One needs to be allowed to experience life outside of home, this helps develop responsibility and lets the child discover who they really are. Everyone is going to make mistakes, whether they are at home, at college, or even at work. By the time a child is old enough to be considered an adult they should be old enough to experience life from somewhere other than under their parents roof. However these individuals have a special gift that is not found in everyone. They are born with intelligence beyond compare, and they spend every second of their free time devoted to their specialty. You cannot be an average person, with average intelligence, and expect to skip college and be as successful as Bill Gates or Walter
