On October 14th my class went to Springfield IL the capital of Illinois. We enjoyed a 3 hour bus ride to Springfield and when we arrived we saw some awesome museums and even Lincoln's house! But, the coolest thing that I believe we did was seeing Lincoln's tomb.
As we rounded the bend and the anticipation was growing we finally saw the giant monument in his honor; it was magnificent. But, as if that wasn't cool enough their was a giant Lincoln head! Strangely the statue was quite dirty except for one spot on his nose which was still shining like it was new! We later found out it was like that because so many people had rubbed it for good luck before entering the tomb.
