Part A: Here in Tennessee we are in a valley with lots of lakes and water falls between the mountains. The water falls have swinging bridges going across them and not everyone will walk across because of the fear of it breaking or swinging too much. So my idea is to have the children build a regular bridge with a roof that does not swing and sheds shade to those in wheel chairs can enjoy the water falls and bridge as well. In this activity we will use Lincoln logs to build a two layer bridge that stretches across with a covered top. First we will sort the logs by size. Biggest to smallest this is teaching the kids size concept. Step one, Place the large logs across the top of the water fall from land to land. The logs should be at least four …show more content…
First we will do a problem solving activity. I will let the children choose a simple problem in everyday life. Give them two options to solve the problem they have come up with. The resolution could go good or bad so the children have to choose wisely. Decide which option is going to have the better out come. Remind the children if the out come is not the best choice to never give up and try again. At this age children are learning how to handle issues on there own. This will also help with following steps on succeeding and getting past an issue if one should arise. Our second activity will be working in teams to complete a task. Each member of the team will take turns being a leader. Leading the group in making a plan by asking questions that will help them come to a conclusion with the task. After everyone has had a turn with help from the teacher we will decide which task is complete and how we can fix things wrong. The children will then take turns speaking about how they completed task as a team with key points on the easy and on the hard parts of the task. By doing this the children will learn how to work together and agree on things. Understanding that everyone has different ideas and coming together as one with all the ideas you can do great

On October 15th, 2015 Caitlin, Christy and I visited the Long Island Children Museum to learn more about fun activities to do with children for a science lesson. When we first got there and looked around the first floor we all looked at each other because we didn’t think we would find anything here that had to do with science. After walking around the first floor for a little bit, we realized there were two sections here that had to deal with science. The first section we realized was called Bubbles and we didn’t go in it right away because there were so many little children in there and we didn’t want to bother them. So, then we went to the second section on the first floor which was called the Tool Box.…

Using a system such as a sticker chart to earn rewards will not teach the child the skills they need and that is why they have been unsuccessful so far. He urges parents to use the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP) to determine which skills their child has trouble with and what “unsolved problems” arise from the lack of this skill. Once you have determined the skills that your child needs to work on, you can use Greene’s Plan B collaborative problem solving model. Plan B requires that the adult follows a three step process: the empathy step, define the problem, and the invitation. In the empathy step, the adult asks the child to describe “what’s up” with a certain problematic situation.…

The first thing that comes to mind on what to improve is to model activities for students. This is something that can be easily overlooked, and as such it can affect students tremendously, as they face not only new content, but also being asked to use an ability that perhaps they have never learned before or that still need more guidance, and clarification on how to execute. Moreover, modeling also helps the students know what you are looking for, and serves as a reminder to yourself of what is it that you want them to do. The first thing to change for the Speaking and Listening lesson is to separate the Language, and Content objectives.…
