Lincoln's Drug Attack Case Study Essay

As a new member on the tactical team this officer was placed in the middle of an investigation. This investigation involved attempting to catch a well known narcotics and stolen gun dealer named Mr. Lincoln. The investigation has reached its pentacle, but the major player in the investigation was not caught doing anything illegal. Completion of this investigation all hindered catching Mr. Lincoln participating in any hand-to-hand distribution of guns or narcotics. If they observe Mr. Lincoln doing anything illegal he could face up to 30 years in prison, which would conclude their case. So to ensure the capture of Mr. Lincoln committing this act he was placed under constant surveillance. Weeks has passed and nothing, so to correct this the new tactical team member decided he was going to make a false statement that he saw Mr. Lincoln committing a hand-to-hand transaction. He even submitted a sworn affidavit to a judge to what he saw and because of that the judge signed an arrest warrant. As the tactical team gather to make the arrest of Mr. Lincoln, there detectives from a different jurisdiction that was 40 miles away informing the team that they had evidence and witnesses that Mr. Lincoln committed a double murder on the day in question of his alleged hand-to-hand sale. Once this act was committed the officer lapse judgment has put into question his integrity amongst the department and his fellow officers. This officer violated the high standards set by his fellow tactical team. His determination has crossed every ethical standard, the officers he worked with stood by the higher standard and were willing to allow the case to develop, but the new officer wanted to speed up the
