Introduction
The Lincoln University Students’ Association (LUSA) exist to ensure all Lincoln University (LU) students have an excellent university experience. We have a service level agreement with the university to provide: sport, recreation, and cultural activities; clubs and societies; student magazine, the RAM; advocacy on behalf of individual and groups of students; and educational support. Ultimately students are at university to receive a quality education, and LUSA want to support them in this. Clubs, events and other activities are crucial to achieving this as they ensure a well-rounded student, who is enjoying their time at University.
Student Rep System
LUSA provide the student rep system to the university. This system is supported across the university, however there could be better buy-in from some lecturers who see it merely as a complaints system or a burden. Our Student Advice and Support (SAS) Manager tries to gain both positive and constructive feedback and relays it to the faculty deans throughout the semester. This helps encourage lecturers, and identify learning edges for personal development. To achieve this students need to know what is happening at LU, and how to do things. Recently we gained feedback through the LU Student Experience Survey, which illustrated that student communication is lacking. This of significant concern to both LUSA and the University. Students were asking for things that were already occurring but did not know about them. The University has been very proactive about these concerns and already have a working group identifying solutions these issues. We look forward to working collaboratively to achieve improvements as soon as is
