If you have a child that dies young, you are typically going to want to have a gorgeous monument that will draw the attention of everyone near it. Just like if you make a monument dedicated to all of the people that died in the Vietnam war, you are going to want to make it made out of the best stuff and be in a pretty surrounding so that everyone will be drawn to it and realize what really went on with it. I believe that in Source G, it makes a good point by saying, "The site was a beautiful park surrounded by trees, with traffic and noise coming from one side—Constitution Avenue. I had a simple impulse to cut into the earth. " This is a good example of how they wanted the monument to be surrounded by something beautiful in order to tell the beautiful life, or event of what the monument stood…

We must mind these qualities if we wish to prevent its fall to obscurity. Foremost, whatever cause our memorial will commemorate, it must resound in the hearts of the people.…

Did you know that Lincoln freed all slaves in the Confederacy? I believe that according to Russell Freedman, Lincoln was ambitious. This is because Lincoln tried out many jobs, because Lincoln ran for president, because Lincoln made an ambitious and intense speech, and most of all because Abraham Lincoln freed all the slaves everywhere in the Confederacy. I think that according to Russell Freedman, Lincoln was ambitious because he tried many jobs. As said in source A: “The public monument speaks to a deep need for attachment that can be met only in a real place, where the imagined community actually materializes and the existence of the nation is confirmed in a simple but powerful way.” The site of the monument needs to be well thought out and planned so that people will be attracted to it. This is why when planning a public monument, you need to take into consideration all people and communities that will accept where the monument would be placed. So a monument should never be built on a site where it will not be…

On the other hand, the Savannah Memorial Park is the site of a grave, occupied by "pioneers from the Santa Fe Trail [who] would bring their dead along with them...and bury them [there]" (Source D). This site illustrates a memorial that was created as the event it showcases was happening. This makes the monument inherently more accurate, as it is not just a posthumous reproduction, but an encapsulation of actual events. Furthermore, as shown in Source E, a monument's location factors into the message its creation sends. In 2008, the United States set out to build a large but controversial Holocaust museum in Washington D.C.…
